Shootin' the Whiskey and Givin' a Holler

Last night, I spent the evening at the Thunderbird Cafe listening to the funky sounds of The Whiskey Holler. This foursome blends rockabilly with blues to create a style of their own. Dressed up in true Halloween fashion, the group rocked the stage with original tunes as well as covers such as Sam Cooke's Bring it On Home to Me. This is one of my favorite songs and it was refreshing to hear an awesome rendition that honored the soul icon.

Ajay Rock Bio

With Ajay Rock selected to perform in Miami at one of the largest hip hop summits in the country this weekend, he was in need of a bio. He called me up (well, in today's world, he texted me up) and asked if I could put something together asap. This is what I came up with and this is what his fellow artists will read down in the sun in Miami.

Austin “Ajay Rock” Durham, a Pittsburgh native, finds his musical roots in R&B and Hip Hop. Pulling inspiration from artists such as Michael Jackson, Robin Thicke, Prince and Usher, Ajay Rock blends his influences to create a style all his own. After pursuing a career in music for the past two years, he is finally making his first marks of many on the entertainment business. He is currently in talks with several major record labels with his ultimate goal being to help other artists find their voices through his words. Ajay Rock keeps his sights set high and an optimistic attitude seems to maintain that spirit.

With a mixtape due out soon and a single he wrote about to be picked up by a major record label, his "Dream World" is about to come true.

Every band has its start somewhere...Pittsburgh is home to some amazing bands, most of which you have never heard of. These voices deserve to be heard and this is the place to hear them.

This is my attempt to spread the word about the many bands rocking it out here in Steel City, as well as keeping you up to date on awesome performances happening around town.
